Penny Hardway's signature line from Nike is one of the most ionic signature lines from the mid 90's, and back in the 90's the team of Orlando Magic was my personal favorite, so naturally I always kept an eye on what everyone on the team was rocking and Penny's shoes were always some of my favorite. For the season 95-96 Penny finally received his first signature it was the Air Max Penny, designed by the one and only Eric Avar, the designer of the later models as well and some for the most popular, like the Foamposite One and Flightposite. Initially Penny was presented with another model that was also designed by Eric Avar, the Air Way Up, but he turned it down as he thought it was more simple then what he wanted, so shortly after, the Air Max Penny was introduced with a lot of details and similarities to the Way Up, but with a much bigger Air Max 2 bag and slightly modified Phylon midsole in both lateral and medial sides. The Air Max Penny went out to be one of the most loved models created for Penny, but unfortunately this last retro is not what the original was, the materials are not good, the Air unit is half the size of the original one and the asking retail price is just too much for what that shoe is offering. I paid $80 and think that is too much as well, considering the materials used, and the real price everyone should be paying is under $60, and the retail of $160 is just ridiculous, seriously. They are comfortable and TTS, but that is the only thing going for them, which is really a pity since I really like that colorway and love the model.
