After receiving your visa to move to Mexico as a temporary or permanent resident, what's next in the Mexican immigration process? What is the Canje procedure? And how do you obtain your physical temporary or permanent resident card once you enter Mexico? In this video, we cover everything you need to know to exchange your visa in your passport into a physical resident card, including the important requirements to know to enter Mexico along with numerous helpful tips we learned throughout the process. For reference, we received our resident cards in July 2022, so the information presented in this video is current as of this date. If you are feeling anxious about this part of the process (which felt very much like a black box to us), click play and put your fears at ease!

ABOUT US: We're Andy and Trai, a gay couple living in Mexico with our rescue jackhuahua, Pattie. After meeting in San Francisco and later moving to Chicago, we decided to quit our jobs in 2021, sell everything, and become two gay expats. Since then, we've been traveling the world and documenting our adventures on YouTube and our travel blog. Our current home base is Tulum, Mexico—it's where we got married and decided to build a house. Subscribe for the next chapter in our story and our experience moving to Mexico. We hope our adventures inspire your travels and show you what places are really like if you are thinking about living, working, or retiring abroad.
