Lee (@leealyse.perry) a local climate activist, responds to the false narrative that there is nothing else Orange County can do to defend Split Oak Forest. She names the various points the Save Split Oak Coalition would like to see Orange County conduct ahead of the May 1st Fish and Wildlife Commission which will be located at the Embry Riddle Doolittle Hall: Doolittle Hall, 241 Aerospace Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

1) OC Could send staff and the Board could show up in solidarity with our movement asking the F.W.C Board to NOT release the Conservation easements in the toll road path.
2) Officially Rescind their application from 2019 to the F.C.T - Florida Communities Trust board which was falsely filed for a “Linear Facility” use permit meaning a “minimal impact” access through critically sensitive habitat which is an illegal loophole that would never be allowed if there wasn’t corruption throughout the system due to developers money/influence statewide. Linear facilities are usually granted for small projects thru conservation land like an electricity utility line or a small project.. NEVER a toll road.
3) OC Could have a “non-conflicted” biological assessment of the threatened or endangered species on site so we can showcase the true harm to protected species which would happen thru the toll road trajectory and demand a mitigation plan in the event the toll road goes through for all wildlife and plant species.
4) Meet with our coalition MORE than Tavistock. We know every single member of the Board has met with the developers and yet our coalition has not received a response from every member of the Board. We re-sent a request for individual meetings last week and have yet to receive a response from most members of the board accept Nicole Wilson and Emily Bonilla.

With regards to Sunbridge, the City Of Orlando is planning to annex another major development next to these outlined parcels meaning they are getting closer to absorbing the tax base of hundreds of thousands of acres of land with much weaker environmental standards than the county. We are standing up against the sprawl coming!
