Courchevel Altiport (LFLJ) is situated at about 2000m and has the steepest runway in the alps (18.5% gradient). It is 1,722 ft long and there are no go-around procedures in this airport.
Due to limited space and high altitude (reduced performance), sloped runways are constantly used in mountain flying to help airplanes accelerate and decelerate upon take off and landing.
