12 . SOUNDBITE (English) Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, actors:
Gleeson: "Inishmore was, because it's a tiny little island with 750 people on it. Achill was a little different, because we were spread out."
Farrell: "We dispersed when we got to Achill and some people were a bit shocked by it because there was, we were all, as he was saying, very close. I mean, Inishmore is what is it, seven or nine miles long and two miles wide or something like that?"
Gleeson: "That's about right."
Farrell: "And we were all very much together. We'd see each other on the country roads on the weekend, Saturday, Sunday, on your way to the shop to get whatever you were getting by way of groceries, or going to the pub. We'd see each other all the time. Then when we moved to Achill we were all a bit more spread out and it became a little bit different."
Gleeson: "It was car country, in Achill, whereas you were just walking around."
Farrell: "Or bicycles on Inishmore."
Gleeson: "You know the rhythm, the rhythm in Inishmore was truer to what the world was in the film."
Farrell: "The period, absolutely, yeah."
