In this episode Edward Stow examines in detail the second of the four 'canonical' Thames Torso Murders - the Whitehall Mystery of 1888.
This case is probably the most widely discussed of the Thames Torso Murders, primarily because it occurred during the Jack the Ripper Murders - in the 'Autumn of Terror'. It was also remarkable because some of the body parts were deposited in the foundations of a new building that was being constructed for the Metropolitan Police Headquarters at Scotland Yard.
The potential involvement of Charles Lechmere in this particular crime is not discussed. The focus is on the crime itself.
Edward Stow will examine each of other Torso cases in greater detail in future episodes of the House of Lechmere so keep watching!
