ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: How To Stop Dog Allergies
Probiotics are highly beneficial bacteria helping to maintain balance in your dogs body and so it's vital that your dog has enough of them to balance the bad bacteria inhabiting your dogs gut and keep the immune system balanced.
If your dogs digestive system is unbalanced i.e. your dog has a delicate stomach with digestion issues, bad gas, belching, hot spots, paw licking, diarrhea or soft sloppy stools, yeast overgrowth such as ear infection, cystitis or skin allergies, the first thing you must do is introduce your dog to probiotics.
So what disrupts the natural balance of bacteria in your dogs system to cause such health problems?
Eating a high carbohydrate kibble diet, eating the additives in kibble, stress, infections, pharmaceutical drugs like steroids and antibiotics and environmental contamination.
A high quality probiotic includes various species of bacteria that when combined, restore disrupted balance in your dogs gut. These “good bacteria” have to survive the acid in the stomach and the bile in the small intestines to successfully establish themselves in the gut.
Probiotics gently help your dog get over digestive troubles by helping the good bacteria already in the digestive tract to come into balance. This happens without the use of harsh medicines as using using pharmaceuticals to treat digestive disruption is mostly ineffective, prolonging the recovery of a normally functioning digestive system.
Probiotics can especially improve the health of your dog if they eat a kibble diet or have a sensitive digestive system.
Your dog needs probiotics every day. They're essential to good health and need to be available as a constant in your dog's life. Varying the types of probiotic is important to get maximum benefits from various strains of healthy bacteria.
The most convenient way to give your dog probiotics is with a powdered probiotic supplement you simply add to your dogs meals. Choosing a quality probiotic supplement can be very confusing as most of the products available are simply not good enough.
You'll want a probiotic with as many species of good bacteria as possible with at least 2 billion CFU's per scoop and not made in China as the standard is not verifiable and often contains animal digest and sugars.
There are many brands available and by far the best one I've researched over the years is Pet Ultimates Probiotics for dogs and the link is above.
