I am in no way at a professional level when it comes to producing music, but I am determined enough to understand the 'basic' concept of dynamics and techniques. I have only been using FL Studio for more than a decade and I've learned a few tricks when it came to getting better sounds that come close, yet still far, to the specific sounds of reggae.
Today, I give you this Quick Tutorial that is only done by FL Studio 12's (Producer Edition) stock plugins. From minimal touch-ups on EQing to Mixing, no Third Party Plugins were ever used. Although, your music won't go far without the help of today's Third Party plugins and especially live instruments.
This is in No-Way close to what it should sound when professionally engineered but it's the next step from zero experience. Trust your ears and they will lead you to more advanced techniques.
On a side note, this type of Reggae is becoming more popular throughout the Pacific region and is not the Jamaican born reggae style that we all know and love.
Hopefully you find this helpful.
