Limoncello is one of the best known and most appreciated homemade liqueurs; its vivid yellow color is obtained by macerating the peels of lemons (organic) in ethyl alcohol (96%). When the lemon peels have given up their color and aromas, the alcohol is mixed with a syrup of water and sugar. Once ready, the Limoncello must macerate in the bottle for about 1 month. The result is a sweet and very fragrant liqueur. It is ideal to serve after meals as a digestif, and can be used in desserts. The original recipe of Limoncello is known between several towns on the Amalfi Coast where lemons are particularly aromatic (Sfusato di Amalfi lemon). But don't worry, Limoncello can be prepared with different types of lemon, as long as they are organic and with a nice yellow and fragrant peel. Ingredients:
- 9 Organic Lemons
- 34 oz (1 liter) Ethyl Alcohol (96%) (for consuming)
For the Syrup:
- 50.7 oz (1 1/2 liter) water
- 24.7 oz (700 grams) sugar
