Adam Granduciel of The War on Drugs performing the “Strangest Thing” at Massey Hall in Toronto on the second of two sold-out events, Sunday, October 22, 2017
If you haven’t had the opportunity to see these guys live, do yourself a favour. They are everything we love about Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Marc Knopfler all rolled together to produce a dynamic far greater than the sum of the parts—one that reminds you why we love music in the first place. Their music and Adam’s guitar, lyrics and vocals have the secret recipe of working-people’s anthems that carry us through the seasons of our lives and help us stumble through the dark and the pain and to celebrate the simple blessings that appear as diamonds in the night sky. And thankfully, musicians like the War on Drugs led by poets like Adam Granduciel, continue to describe and shine a light on the spaces we each inhabit “between the beauty and the pain.”—KMJ
