This song was recorded November 25th at Grace Lutheran Church, in Corvallis, Oregon where I grew up. I wrote it to heal myself. I was inspired by a dear friend, and from my exposure to a form of meditation called Tonglin - the practice of breathing in suffering and out compassion.

The song "The Poison & The Medicine" was written on a cool summer morning, on one of those rare Sundays where I was able to sit out in the brisk open air with my acoustic guitar and just write. Some songs come in bits and pieces. They come out word by word, over months. This song passed through me. It needed to come into this world fully formed and ready to transform me.
