Dr Chris G Faulkes MRSB, reader in evolutionary ecology at Queen Mary, University of London discusses the unique and long-lived “social-insect like” mammal, the naked mole-rat. Dr Faulkes touches upon the unusual physiological and biochemical adaptations of the animal which are now impacting on studies of human health and healthy ageing.
