Here's another excerpt from last week's Office Hours. I got a question about how to approach jazzy arpeggios (maj7, min7, etc.) without feeling overwhelmed. The way that has worked for me has been to break them into 2-notes-per-string forms. Lots of position shifting, yes, but the fingerings are repetitive because each string pair (6 & 5; 4 & 3; 2 & 1) comprises the same interval: a perfect 4th. Repetitive fingering, IMHO, makes this arpeggio approach very accessible.
