The Freedom Alliance tells the Opposition to join the election battle without being restricted to baseless slogans. Several Ministers expressed their views at a media confrerence held at the Alliance Election Propaganda Centre.
Minister Dulles Alahapperuma queried as to what the UNP said at the Uva polls to enthuse voters. They said that Hambantota Airport would not become a reality and the water of the Uva was being diverted to the Uma Oya project and it would be halted. The Hambantota people are to query why the harbour would not be built. The farmers are making queries as why the Uma Oya project will be scrapped.
Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka claimed that a situation has arisen in which 85 percent of the public opinion has been unified, irrespective of the party differences. He said this consensus should be used as a golden entrance towards a moral society.
Minister Rajitha Senaratne was of the view that the UNP had lost around 1.9 million votes in Uva. When the Southern Provincial Council election comes to an end it would surge 2.3 million.
