Pro tip submitted by viewer Mark Smedley: Wet the inside of your measuring cup before scooping the joint compound to prevent it sticking to your cup.
Pro tip submitted by viewer Amberlee Daniel: Be careful about selecting your insulation. Some can contain fiberglass particles and some do not. Take care in your choice.

Several handfulls of cellulose fiber insulation
An alternative paper clay recipe was discovered by a viewer: Zane Woods
I broke it down in step format without editing the text much.
1) I fill a cool whip container with ripped newspaper and soak it in a little vinegar and salt
2) and then fill the rest with hot water,
3) and then leave it for a few hours,
4) then I just dump all the water and paper into a bowl and mix in flour, a splash of elmers glue (maybe a tablespoon? Not exact measurement) and then flour! If you use enough flower its like soft earthenware clay and sets like a rock! Its not very fine though, its a little bumpy but it costs maybe 20¢ a batch? :) and besides mashing all the paper it takes just a few hours to make
Thanks to those who inspired me
