Along with rice, lentils are the most important foodstuff in Nepal. Most commonly used to make dal, lentils are eaten daily by all Nepalis. This short film showcases a small restaurant in the historic town of Bhaktapur where the proprietor, Maya Bajracharya, makes and sells traditional lentil cakes known as bara. In the film she and some of her customers explain the impact that rising food process are having on the lives of ordinary Nepalis.
