Making significant change in one's life can be one of the most challenging and intimidating endeavors a person can face. There are so many perceived and actual obstacles that make significant change a daunting task. What if one of those obstacles is being incarcerated?
The Recovery Housing Opportunity Program aims to make that task more achievable by giving inmates who want to make a serious change in their lives the opportunity to do so. In the end, it's about building up equity within themselves so that those personal changes last and, in turn, begin to impact others around them.
What forms is nothing short of a sober living community, one in which people come together to help each other in the tough times, but also to celebrate those hard won victories.
But these are just the first steps of a long journey. Out of the 71 graduates, over 40 have signed on for phase two of the program where they will continue to build on the progress they've made . . .
