How to smoke a turkey. In this video I show you how to make a delicious Thanksgiving style smoked turkey on my Bayou Classic Offset Smoker.
Recipe
Ingredients - Do this the day before
Inject with mixture of melted butter and hot olive oil if wanted.
1 turkey, any size
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt per pound of meat only if the meat has not been pre-salted
Ingredients for the wet rub
1 tablespoon dried crushed parsley
1 tablespoons dried crushed sage
1 tablespoon dried crushed rosemary
1 tablespoon dried crushed thyme
1 tablespoon dried crushed oregano
1 tablespoon dried crushed basil
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon sugar (Maple Sugar)
Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil or olive oil or water to make a paste
Rub under and on top of skin
Smoker Temp = 300-325
Cook for around 3 hours or until thighs read 160 and breast read 170 with a meat thermometer.
Let rest for a half an hour before carving.
