The carnival in Oak Harbor has been shut down for the remainder of the holiday weekend after a ride tipped over causing multiple minor injuries.
On Wednesday night, one of the rides tipped over resulting in six minor injuries to riders. The individuals who were injured were treated on-site.
According to city officials, Oak Harbor Mayor Ronnie Wright made the decision to shut down the carnival over safety concerns. Wright said the top priority is to ensure everyone’s safety moving forward.
The ride was secured and immediately shut down following the incident. The city worked with ride vendors to inspect all the other rides on Thursday.
