I did this very quick demo of the Soldano SLO 100. It was the 2 x12" combo version.
I did not demo the crunch-part of the clean channel. It's only the clean channel and the lead channel.
I used a AKG C214 condenser mic and a Zoom H4n recorder. No editing or post EQ.
Guitar:
G&L S-500 strat with alder body and maple fretboard
Suhr V60LP neck pickup and Seymour Duncan Hotrail bridge pickup.
0.9 string gauge D'addario XL
Dava pick
It sounds kinda dark and muffled on the recording, but this was actually really close to how it sounded when standing in front of it.
I find that the SLO has a more vintage vibe sound to it - whereas it's brother, the Peavey 5150, has a more modern metal sound to it.
The texture of the SLO's gainchannel reminds me a bit of the Mesa/Boogie Express 5.50. The SLO has more gain though. Both the 5.50 and the SLO tends to get fuzzy when the gain is cranked up. Not fuzzy in a bad way, but in a old school tube amp kinda way.
