The book of Isaiah is sometimes called 'the gospel of the Old Testament' because of its numerous prophetic declarations about the Messiah and the importance of salvation. Those prophecies were fulfilled in the life and ministry of Jesus so clearly that we recognize them as an undeniable miracle of prophetic utterance. Isaiah's personal experience of the miraculous is also a highlight of the book, as the prophet has a supernatural encounter with the presence of God.
Many of Isaiah's prophecies involve the judgement of God upon various cities. Isaiah's prophetic words also predict the restoration of God's people. The book then rallies to the point of prophetic comments about the future of God's people and their final destiny.
In describing the entirety of Isaiah's book of prophecy, one concludes that there are two major divisions. One is the prophecy of judgment and the other is the promise of salvation. Both the judgment and salvation prophecies are tied perfectly together with the hope and reality of the Messiah, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
