As a capstone to my marathon 1996 semaphore trip, I visited teh Illinois Railway Museum on the way back to Pennsylvania. The IRM is to my knowledge the only museum railroad in the U.S. with a fully operating block signal system. Both semaphores and color light signals are used, and the system is worked to capacity by the frequent moves. There is also an extensive static display of various types of signals from the past.
