Is HEVI Shot HEVI Steel more effective for duck hunting than KENT Fasteel? I pattern test and ballistics gel test both at 40 yards to see which shell has the best terminal performance. Both shotgun loads tested in this review had very good pattern density and ballistics gel penetration and either would be an excellent waterfowl ammunition selection. The Fasteel shot is zinc plated but they otherwise have the same specs, pellet count, and velocity. Watch the video for the results.

The shells used were:
HEVI-Shot's HEVI Steel #4 shot, 3", 1.25oz (239 pellets), 1500 FPS
KENT Fasteel 2.0 Zinc Plated #4 shot, 3", 1.25oz (239 pellets), 1500 FPS
This test was conducted on a certified shooting range with proper ear and eye protection. I fired both through my Mossberg 940 Pro Waterfowl with its 28" barrel and a Carlson's Sporting Clays Extra Full Choke.
