In today’s episode, your host Steven Sulley discusses the difference between productivity and just being active. Are you busy or do you just look busy? A lot of people fall into the category of ‘looking busy’ and do not actually achieve very much, in their business and in life. This is one of the biggest causes of frustration, anxiety and depression and today, Steven shows you how to break the mould, do what you love and get things done, with absolute productivity.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Ask yourself, what are you achieving? Don’t work really hard, but at the wrong thing. Utalise your time in the right way and become effective with what you’re doing. No matter what’s going on the main thing you need to focus on is your career, the thing that’s going to get you paid.
Are you working on something that’s going to make you grow, make you thrive and make you financially free? Are you getting yourself educated and getting yourself empowered? If not you need to re-align your vision and values and stop what you’re doing.
A lot of people are constantly analysing and thinking rather than doing. Use your downtime, either before or after work to research and critic. When you’re at work, just work.
BEST MOMENTS
“Is the thing you're doing right now really moving you forward? Or are you just looking busy? Life is not a rehearsal, you get one shot at it. So make sure you’re utalising your time properly.”
Floyd Mayweather Junior - “His philosophy is hard work and dedication. The hard work on your craft and the right strategy for you to achieve success.”
“Many boxers may be pretty good at what they do, but over-time they get caught up in things irrelevant to them”
“When you’re resting properly rest, but when you’re working properly work”
ABOUT THE HOST
The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. My view is you should focus on a number of key areas to be a well-rounded individual. Success should not be just one thing like money, for example, it should also consist of a healthy fit lifestyle and thriving relationships. As a person who has made a success in life and also made some cock-ups I can offer suggestions and tips on how to become successful or at least start your pursuit of success.
I started from leaving school at 16 with very poor school results to pursue a career in plumbing following the directions of my parents that then lead me to a barrister's chamber and then to a sales floor. From here, I established a foothold in the sales market promoting financial products as well as being a founder of an art agency that has a Soho based art studio.
In addition, I have invested into an urban fashion brand and into a wellness tech company, and my latest addition to the business portfolio is a property company that which creates HMO's in Medway, Kent. The diverse range of industries I find myself in has allowed me to create wealth that enables me to be my own boss so I can pursue my dreams.
As a former boxer and avid sportsman, I find there are similarities between the running of businesses and competing. In my episodes, I will be sharing some of my experiences to explore deeper these connections and how they may bring you success."
