Best served with rice, this Bistek recipe is very easy.
To cook Bistek, Beef Steak or Bistek Tagalog here's what you need.
Ingredients:
1/3 kg Beef Steak (Top Round or Sirloin)
1-2 tbsp Oil (Canola Oil or Olive Oil)
1 Onion
1-3 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup soy sauce
2-4 Kalamansi
How to cook Beef Steak
1. Marinate beef for 20 minutes with soy sauce and kalamansi juice.
2. Add some oil in a hot pan, fry onions for 2-5 minutes. Remove from pan.
3. In the same pan, sear the beef for about 2 minutes each side. Remove from pan.
4. Add the minced garlic, then return the beef, its juices and the remaining marinade. Simmer for 10 to 20 minutes or until beef is tender (depends on the cut).
5. Return the onions, you can add onions if you want. Turn off the heat. The residual heat will cook the onions.
6. Serve with rice.
