(15 Aug 2012) STORYLINE:
Around 500 Syrian refugees, some of them severely wounded, made their way across the border into Turkey on Wednesday, having fled from Bab al-Hawa and other parts of Syria.
They came in cars, trucks and even motorcycles, in a desperate attempt to find shelter from the violence.
Many of the wounded were receiving treatment at Reyhanli State Hospital.
Halim Eroglu is a Syrian doctor working there.
He said "Bab al-Hawa in the north of Syria is being destroyed. Why doesn't the international community do anything about it? Is Syrian blood that cheap? Where are all the Arab countries, the Muslims and the Islamic states? Syrian blood shouldn't be that cheap."
The number of refugees stood at 61,450 on Wednesday, according to the Turkish prime minister's office.
The refugees are being sheltered in temporary housing units or tent cities along the border.
Activists say more than 20,000 people have been killed since the start of Syria's revolt, inspired by other Arab Spring uprisings against autocratic regimes in the region.
The conflict has slowly become a full blown civil war.
