HafenCity is a new urban project, which is the largest in Europe. The project plan was approved in 2000.
There are many new modern residential and office buildings with interesting architecture, green parks for recreation and playgrounds, shops, restaurants, cafes, offices of various organizations and businesses. This is a rather expensive area, not every resident of the city will be able to buy real estate. Historical brick buildings are preserved here, modern ones of glass, metal and concrete peacefully exist next to them.
