Rope climbing is an important skill for all OCR / Survivalrun / Spartan race athletes etc. Here Rutger from Uppsala Survival demonstrates how to properly do a Monkey Climb / Rope Traverse (also called Tyrolean traverse).
The same technique can be used by athletes in all obstacle course races, spartan races, crossfit etc.
UPPSALA SURVIVAL
Uppsala Survival IF is an YMCA-connected sports club that practices the dutch sport Survivalrunning, which is a variation of OCR running!
The obstacles of Survivalrunning are mainly made out of logs, ropes and nets and demand proper technique from participants. This is combined with trailrunning and a normal race is between 6 and 20 km, with 30-80 obstacles mixed in.
At our course in Uppsala we regularly practice these obstacles together!
On our channel we post videos from pratice, technique tips usable for OCR runners / Spartan runners etc as well as survivalrunners of course!
