Why hasn't Meghan Markle appeared in tiaras since her wedding day? At the official reception on the island of Fiji in 2018, Meghan appeared in a long bright blue dress, completing the look with diamond chandelier earrings. She expressed a desire to also wear a tiara, but Prince Charles explained that appearing in the luxury jewellery could be judged as an "extravagance" in some Commonwealth countries. Typically, ladies from monarchical families appear in tiaras at state banquets with dignitaries in attendance at Buckingham Palace and at royal weddings. Interestingly, on the same day, Catherine appeared at a state banquet in honour of the King and Queen of the Netherlands wearing a blue Alexander McQueen gown and a "Knots of Love" tiara.
