Women may have very different symptoms of heart disease than men. Two of the most common are shortness of breath and fatigue, says Cindy Baker, MD, FACC, an interventional cardiologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Other symptoms include dizziness, heart palpitations, a sensation of heartburn or pain between the shoulder blades. Dr. Baker encourages women to have any symptoms evaluated so that heart disease can be treated early before there is significant heart damage.
