This excerpt from the 1938 film shows John Barrymore as Louis XV, Gladys George as Madame Du Barry, and Joseph Schildkraut as the Duc d'Orleans. The film's title role was by Norma Shearer. The sets and costumes were designed for color photography but was changed to B/W just before filming began. This clip gives just a suggestion of how the film might have looked had it been filmed in color as planned.
