Since learning Portuguese and speaking with other language learners one of the questions I get asked a lot is 'how to speak with a British accent'. My initial reaction is always, it does not matter. If you're speaking a second language and communicating in that language then that is enough.
However I recently met a guy from Brazil who prefers to speak English with a British accent his name is Gabriel and this video I had a conversation with him about how he has achieved speaking English with a British accent, and the reasons why he wants to speak English with a British accent.
Post your thoughts in the comments and let me know your opinion on speaking another language with the native accent. Do you believe it is important? Can your own accent in a second language be considered your identity?
