A child’s first 1000 days is the period of maximum developmental plasticity, and therefore the period with the greatest potential to affect health and wellbeing over the life course.
Research in this area is rapidly advancing, and understanding of the specific mechanisms that impact upon development is becoming more and more detailed and nuanced. Dr Tim Moore will present the key findings from a new and comprehensive review of the latest research prepared for the ‘Strong Foundations: Getting it Right in the First 1000 Days’ initiative in Australia.
Dr Tim Moore is a Senior Research Fellow at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Royal Children’s Hospital Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH), Melbourne, Australia. Tim is a teacher and developmental psychologist who heads a Research and Policy Team with responsibility for monitoring, reviewing and synthesising research literature on a wide range of topics relating to child development, family functioning and service systems.
