Here's a commercial (transferred directly from a Quad master tape, with a slate and reference to the post-production firm and advertising agency behind it) for McDonalds, touting their line of sundaes and the smiles they bring to those who consume them, using the "We do it all for you." tagline.
Among those featured in this ad are a pre-Diff'rent Strokes Dana Plato (beginning at 0:13), and Dee Wallace (later to be known as Dee Wallace Stone, and most famous for her role as the Mom in the film "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" (and as of late in the show "Just Add Magic") ; she comes in starting at 0:16).
Before this ad is a slate indicating the post-production entity Editel, and the fast food chain's advertising agency Needham, Harper & Steers. It was given the commercial number MCIC 6753 (and Editel number CH7949), its title is given as "Hard Hat Rev," (?) and the date on which this was edited and sent off given as April 10th 1978. After this, the last second of the SMPTE film countdown, with NH&S's logo superimposed over it, is shown, before the commercial begins.
We can guess this would have aired during the spring and summer of 1978.
Thanks to Tom Oszman and TCMediaNow for sharing the quads with us.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!
