The Attack & Defend Drill focuses on the transition between deep defensive balls and short attacking balls. The player must switch footwork patterns to charge to short balls on the rise, and retreat to defend deep balls behind the baseline. The player's goal should be to hit heavy topspin with high net clearance on defensive balls to recover time and push the opponent back. Then, to hit flatter more aggressive shots inside the court when hitting the short ball on the rise.
