The Heisenberg uncertainty principle is one of the most famous ideas in physics. It is one of the founding pillars of modern quantum mechanics. It tells us that there is always some randomness in nature, a limit to what we can know about quantum particles(fundamental building blocks that make up the universe).
Unlike Isaac Newton's clockwork universe, where everything follows clear-cut laws on how to move and prediction is easy if you know the starting conditions, the uncertainty principle adds a level of randomness or uncertainty into nature.
