Blackwater River is located near Milton, Florida. We usually take this 23 mile canoe trip in the spring and fall while the air temperatures are perfect. We hire the Blackwater Canoe Livery to port us up to the start point deep inside the State Forest. From there we usually paddle a little over half way and set up camp on a sandy beach of our choosing. For a fire, there is always plenty of firewood in woods if you are willing to work for it. I usually take a handheld chainsaw and machete to take make the gathering easier. This is a getting back to nature trip. No cell service, no bathrooms, no TV, just you and nature.
