My name is Ionnis Pappou. I'm an upper extremity surgeon, which means I'm doing hand also shoulder noval and macrovascular surgery and nerve surgery. As I was in my medical training. I realized that often times hand surgeons are sort of limited to what types of diseases they treat. So I wanted to expand and be able to do the entire spectrum of the upper extremity. So I did a year of hand surgery first at the University of Virginia followed by a year of shoulder and elbow at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. I was born and raised in Rhodes, Greece, which is a small Island in the Southeast. It's actually very close to the Kalymnos The island where most of the sponge divers came from. I wanted to come to the Florida Orthopaedic Institute because it's a center of excellence for orthopedics here has a, is being practiced at a very high level and the quality of care that's just delivered here is outstanding. My goals when I treat a patient are several. The first one is to be compassionate. And I want them to get a realistic idea of what I can help them with and the weekend that helps us form a mutual plan. And ultimately I want to make them a better, I truly feel that I, I'm blessed and privileged to be able to do and what to do. And I enjoy it. And on top of that, it's a means for me to provide for my family. I think it's extraordinary.
