(26 Oct 2013) PAKISTAN 'DRONE WARS' PREMIERE IN ISLAMABAD
A documentary film, 'Unmanned: America's Drone Wars' had it's premiere with an exclusive screening in Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday ( NOV 26 )
In this film director Robert Greenwald investigates the impact of US drone strikes at home and abroad through more than 70 separate interviews.
The film highlights among others the stories of 16-year-old Tariq Aziz, killed by a drone a mere few days after he participated in a public conference in Islamabad in 2011 and the story of school teacher, Rafiq ur Rehman, who is grappling with the loss of his elderly mother and the hospitalization of his children due to a drone strike last year.
Politician Imran Khan, ex-husband of Jemima Khan who co-produced the film, addressed the audience before the screening "I felt always that in the Western public,there was absolutely no idea about what the drones were doing in Pakistan. If you talk to any one in England or in the United States, people were convince that drones were taking out the bad guys and therefore it was very cheap way of winning the war ".
One of the journalist in ceremony thinks ""Documentary such these are things, they are very powerful . They will definitely create an impact".
