Congratulations to Miri for being the 4x JAPANESE NATIONAL CHAMPION!
The Realforce Typing Championship is the Japanese equivalent to the Ultimate Typing Championship, sponsored by Japanese keyboard company Realforce. No copyright intended, I'm not making advertisement revenue off this, I just wanted to make a clip of the recent tournament finals/award ceremony and share it to the western typing world (which doesn't seem to even know about this). This is a heavily edited video, with some parts of the post match interviews cut out, there was a lot of talking in between so if you're interested in that please watch and support the original video. Again, I take no credit for any of this.

At the finals, Miri and くわな (translated: Kuwana) were CONSISTENTLY averaging around 200-250wpm on complex Japanese sentences. At her peak, she was able to hit 1300KPM which is 260wpm ... I have no doubt in my mind that with some practice and adjustment, she would be able to easily 200+ nonquit on a Japanese Typeracer format. Keep in mind that she's able to consistently hit these speeds for the entirety of a tournament, fighting against nerves and the exhaustion of nearing the end of the competition as well! Miri is one of the most impressive typists in the world and everyone in the community deserves to know who she is, it's a shame that aside from some mentions in Sean Wrona's book about competitive typing "Nerds Per Minute", she isn't mentioned much if at all in the western typing scene. You can check out his book on the history of competitive typing here.

She began practicing at the age of 13 pretty consistently using an offline training program, and now works as a live transcription typist. If you would like to know more about her please check out the links and youtube vid. You will need to use google translate for the articles.

For my fellow speedtyping nerds out there, take note of Miri's right hand placement and right thumb usage ;)
