Testing out the new exotic duplication patch that went live with the March update.

In the end the results were

Amount of exotics opened - 30 (10 per char)
Amount of duplicates consecutively back to back - 0
Amount of duplicates per char aka 10 engrams - 1 (telesto)

All in all, it seems extremely unlikely that you run into a duplicates even when opening many at once.
