In my Husband’s office, they had a potluck for the Easter celebration, so I prepared Kheer. While preparing it, I documented it for you all.
Kheer is a delicious and creamy Indian dessert made with milk, sugar, and rice.
Ingredients :
• 1 liter of milk
• 1/4 cup of rice
• 3 tablespoons of sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder
• 3 tablespoons of Milkmaid
• Chopped almonds and pistachios or any dry fruits (As much you need)
• Saffron strands soaked in milk
Instructions :
1. Grind rice and then rinse the rice in cold water and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
2. Heat a big pan and add some water.
3. Once it’s hot add the milk over medium heat.
4. Keep stirring the milk occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. (Important step)
5. When the milk comes to a boil, add cardamom powder, saffron, and soaked rice to it. (30 Min)
6. Reduce the heat to low and let the rice cook in the milk. Keep stirring
7. When the rice is cooked and the milk has thickened, add sugar to it and mix well.
8. The most important step is to add Milkmaid which gives us different amazing tastes, textures, and flavor
9. Let the kheer cook for another 5-10 minutes until it thickens further. Keep stirring occasionally.
10. Turn off the heat and let the kheer cool to room temperature.
11. Serve the kheer chilled or at room temperature. Garnish it with some chopped nuts and saffron strands.
Enjoy your homemade kheer!
