Reading is more than just saying the words out loud or in our heads. It requires you to gain a deeper understanding of what's going in the story like what was the problem and how did they solve it or being able to explain the cause and effect situations in the text. Even being able to identify the some of the figurative language like metaphors, similes and personification. Well peep this Ms. Ebony Donley is back again to help us help our children be able to attain and master these skills. In this introduction episode, she'll be talking about the issues she's encountered with her students who've struggled with understanding some of these deeper level questions when it comes to reading. Then in our following 3 episodes she's going to lead us in doing a creative hands on project using the book The Skin I'm In by Sharon G. Flake. The projects we'll be doing together, is intended to help our youth develop a deeper understanding of what the story is about like character traits, the problem and solution and being able to identify figurative language. This is a first of its kind of series on Real Reading talk, so be sure to grab your notebooks and pens because this is an episode you do not want to miss.
