The most prominent feature is the 42.7-meter-high statue of Lord Murugan, the god of war and victory, which stands at the entrance of the main cave. To reach the Temple Cave, visitors have to climb 272 colorful steps while admiring the stunning views of the limestone hills and the city skyline.
The Batu Caves are also a place of pilgrimage for Tamil Hindus, especially during the Thaipusam festival in late January or early February.
