Most of the time, when clients are hesitant to sign up for a gym membership, they’ll use excuses. As a gym owner, we’re sure you’ve heard them all before.
Excuses like, “I don’t have the time,” “I’m busy,” or “Let me check my schedule,” are often smokescreens used to hide the fact that the client is hesitant about some aspect of the plan, whether it’s their own ability to commit or the price.
Utilize your client intake process to build the groundwork for your clients. By asking them questions about their schedule, you can prevent these excuses. Good questions to ask during the intake process include:
- How many days per week were you working out previously?
- Is before work, after work, or on your lunch break the best time for you to workout?
- Which class times are the best for you?
- Which days of the week would you want to come in?
In this video, we’ll walk you through how to effectively ask these questions and use your client’s answers to combat their excuses. We’ll also go over how to reassure your client, navigate their hesitations, and convince them to sign up.
