Narrated by Daniel "Avi" Avinash
In this poem, Khalil Gibran explores the duality of these two emotions and argues that they are quite "inseparable". Joy isn't greater than sorrow or vice versa.
Within 2 mins, he argues that you cannot experience happiness and joy without first going through the much dreaded pain and sorrow. It's difficult to appreciate life without experiencing some form of death. He encourages us to embrace sorrow and not avoid it like most would. When God eventually weighs your joy and sorrow, it must neither rise or fall.
THE PROPHET
This poem "Joy and Sorrow" is the eighth of 26 prose poetry fables from the seminal book, "The Prophet". He is then stopped by a group of people, with whom he discusses topics about life and the human condition.
