The Venus figurine found at Catalhoyuk is known as a Potnia Theron or translated as 'The Animal Queen', a common motif found throughout the ancient world. But it also resembles other art from potentially culturally related archaeological sites like Sayburc which also may be connected to other Anatolian sites like Gobekli Tepe. The narrative carving at Sayburc shows a male figure, holding his phallus while surrounded by what appears to be aggressive felines closing in on the man, bearing their teeth. This is contrasted with The Seated Woman, who shows domination over the animals, with two felines relaxed at her side while she uses them as hand rests. If the two sites are connected culturally, it might provide a social commentary on societal roles.
