This is an ode to my favorite movie of all time set to the song Suddenly by one of my favorite bands (Superchic[k]). I claim no rights and all that jaz...
For those of you who have never seen the movie or even so much of heard of it (which I would think is quite of few since it's a relatively old movie) I've inclosed a summary.
Based on a true story, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken is based in the times of the Great Depression when money, food, and happiness was a sarce thing to find. But there was one thing that people everywhere could go to see something that was sure to bring a smell...and a good dose of wonder. The diving girls! Girls brave enough to stand at the top of a tower (ramp), mount a galloping horse, and plummet fifty feet into a pool of water.
Sanora is a young girl. Orphaned, she lives with her aunt and dreams of adventure and travel, just like the beautiful girls in her magazine. Restless for her dreams, she is constantly in trouble, from cutting her hair, breaking fences while trying to jump horses, punching other girls, and getting expelled from school. Finally her aunt has had enough and decides to turn her over to the state.
Inspired by an ad she found in the newspaper, Sanora sets off to the fair grounds where she meets Dr. Carver who is at first sure she doesn't have what it takes to be a diving girl. She's too young and too peony---but she proves him wrong and achieves her dream.
Just when everything seems to be going great, when Dr. Carver's son, Al---the man she loves---asks her to marry him (and she says yes), a dive gone awry leaves her blind and unable to be a diving girl...at least, that's what everyone thinks.
In a dive she wasn't supposed to do, blind Sanora defeats the odds and dives as though she could see perfectly. She continued diving for 11 years...and the audience never once figured out that the girl wowing them was completely and legally blind.
