Jordan could be considered an archetype of a water-stressed nation. Climate change, population growth, demographic shocks and poor planning drain the country’s minimal natural water supplies.
Amman’s population ballooned from 300,000 to over 1.2 million in the last 30 years. In the summertime, most residents feel water shortages severely, as the national service delivers water only once every two weeks.
