ITU and UN Women joined forces as per the necessity to conduct a study on the gender digital divide occurring in eight selected European countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. The study, launched in March 2021, aimed at identifying key factors and trends in the participation of women in the digital sector in education, career and entrepreneurship at a national level, with a special focus on COVID-19 repercussion. This study concluded into a set of country-specific recommendations to enhance participation of women and girls in ICT sector. Economic instability brought about by Covid-19 will only increase the attractiveness of the technology field. Now is the time to take bold steps to ensure that girls and women enjoy the full fruits of the digital revolution.
